Said to be one of the most influential Roman ‘Time Capsules’ ever discovered on Hadrian’s Wall, the Hoard offers a window into military supply and repair of materials. The contents of the hoard were found in excellent condition, and include some of a Roman soldier’s worldly goods including gaming counters, a beer tankard, wax writing tablets and papyrus.
A small exhibition in the museum highlights what has been learnt from the hoard and some of the mysteries still surrounding its burial.
